Surrey Heath has "many brilliant schools with fantastic teachers", as Ed McGuinness says, with eleven schools rated Outstanding by Ofsted.

Education standards in England have improved under the Conservatives, with children in the country having the highest literacy and numeracy rate in the United Kingdom. In 2015, 82% of schools were deemed good or outstanding. This increased to 86% by 2019, and to 90% by 2023.

According to one ranking, children in England are now the best in the West when it comes to reading at primary-school age, with the United Kingdom having climbed the Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) international rankings.

However, there is much more that needs to be done, particularly around ensuring places and provisions for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Commenting, Ed said:

"I'm determined to fight for better support and provisions for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

"Surrey Heath has so many brilliant schools with fantastic teachers. I want to do everything possible to ensure that every child in Surrey Heath has the best possible education."
