The redevelopment of Chobham Fire Station has unfortunately been delayed until spring next year.

This announcement from Surrey County Council (SCC) comes due to issues raised by the Environment Agency (EA) as part of the planning process. SCC's Land and Property team have been working to address the EA's feedback.

The Chief Fire Officer at Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), Dan Quin, has emphasised the brigade's commitment to addressing the concerns and moving the project forward as swiftly as possible.

Commenting, Dan Quin stated:

“While the delay is beyond our control, we remain dedicated to providing the best possible facilities for our firefighters and the Chobham community. Our Land and Property Team is working diligently to resolve the issues raised by the EA, and we will continue to keep the community informed as the situation progresses.”

Commenting, Cllr Richard Tear, Surrey County Councillor for Bagshot, Windlesham and Chobham said:

"Owing to issues regarding the planning permission, the redevelopment of Chobham's fire station will have to be postponed until next year."

The new fire station is a crucial project for SFRS, aiming to enhance the service’s capabilities and resilience, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the local community in Chobham.

The redevelopment will include:

  • Enhanced facilities for operational contaminants management and hygiene.
  • New gym facilities to support crews in maintaining their fitness
  • A community space to allow for engagement with residents and partners
  • A second fire and rescue vehicle bay, to better serve our communities
  • Cleaner, greener and more sustainable designs.
