Last Friday, Michael joined local Cllr Rebecca Jennings-Evans, Surrey County Councillor for West End and Bisley, on a visit to Bisley C of E School to learn more about the important work she is doing to improve road safety outside the school and to help ease the parking issues.

Michael and Rebecca spoke with the Headteacher regarding the brilliant initiatives the school has implemented, such as ‘Park and Stride’, and they also had the opportunity to discuss funding and special educational needs provision.

Afterwards, Rebecca took Michael to the traffic lights on the A322, between Wilcot Gardens and Wilcot Close in Bisley, and explained that there have been a number of near misses due to red light jumping. Michael was pleased to hear that the police are carrying out a red light survey and are currently compiling the data.

Rebecca also informed Michael that residents are concerned about speeding along this stretch of road, and Surrey County Council has recently concluded a consultation on reducing the speed limit along the A322 through Bisley and West End to 30mph. Michael has asked the Highways Team at Surrey County Council to update him in due course.
